How to root Moto E by unlocking BOOTLOADER and installing Custom recovery (CWM or TWRP ) easily for Kitkat and Lollipop

 This post contains the easiest methods of unlocking bootloader + Installing TWRP or CWM recovery + rooting your Moto e

    The steps to unlock bootloader may look lengthy but if you follow the steps correctly you will succeed in doing it within 5mins ...

   After unlocking the bootloader it is very easy to install custom recovery (CWM OR TWRP) and root it.

THINGS TO DOWNLOAD

> MOTOROLA USB DRIVERS - CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD. (Just install this as you install other softwares )


> MINIMAL ADB AND FASTBOOT - CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD

> CWM or TWRP - CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD CWM or CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD TWRP

> Supersu.zip (for KitKat 4.4.4 ) - CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD SUPERSU.ZIP

> SuperSU.zip (for lollipop 5.0.2). - http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3163408&d=14238207171. UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER

NOTE- UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER WILL VOID WARRANTY SO I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY FURTHER DAMAGES CAUSED TO YOUR DEVICE

    Put your device in fastboot mode (power off, then press the power and volume down buttons simultaneously for 5seconds ). and connect your phone to PC

  Launch minimal ADB and fastboot (from desktop shortcut or from installed folder )
  Type

fastboot oem get_unlock_data

and hit enter

Now you will see a string of characters

For Example
(bootloader)
0A40040192024205#4C4D3556313230
(bootloader)
30373731363031303332323239#BD00
(bootloader)
8A672BA4746C2CE02328A2AC0C39F95
(bootloader)
1A3E5#1F53280002000000000000000
(bootloader) 0000000

Now select all characters (Ctrl+a) and copy them (Ctrl+c) and paste it in notepad and erase (bootloader) and other spaces .

The resultant code for the example given above (after removing (bootloader) and other spaces ) will be

0A40040192024205#4C4D355631323030373731363031303332323239#BD008A672BA4746C2CE02328A2AC0C39F951A3E5#1F532800020000000000000000000000

 Now GO HERE and sign in with your email or Motorola ID then paste the resultant code that you got, in box provided in the website. and click on get unlock code.
 Now you will receive a email with the unlock code,Copy that unlock code and again put your phone into fastboot mode and connect it to PC via USB .

Again launch minimal ADB and fastboot and
type

fastboot oem unlock UNIQUE_KEY

(replace unique_key with 20string characters that you received in the email )

and hit enter

DONE YOU HAVE UNLOCKED THE BOOTLOADER


2. INSTALLING CUSTOM RECOVERY


 Download cwm or TWRP recovery (links provided above)

  Rename the downloaded file as  recovery.img (if you use mobile to rename it ) or rename it as recovery (if you use PC to rename it)

Now copy the renamed file (recovery.img) to Minimal ADB and fastboot's folder Default location is C://Program files/Minimal ADB and fastboot

  After pasting the file again put the phone in fastboot mode and connect it to PC via USB

  Launch  minimal ADB and fastboot from the desktop shortcut and
type

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img


DONE YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY FLASHED CUSTOM RECOVERY

3. ROOTING MOTO E


  Download SuperSU.zip (link provided above ) and place it in internal storage of your mobile ( storage/emulated/0/here)

 Put your device in fastboot mode (power off, then press the power and volume down buttons simultaneously for 5seconds ) and press vol down button till it highlights recovery now press volume up button (to boot into recovery). Click on install zip and select SuperSU.zip that you downloaded . (if you use CWM use vol + and vol - buttons to navigate and power button to select ) After installation is complete click on reboot system now


DONE YOUR DEVICE IS SUCCESSFULLY ROOTED
